Dear friends,
Another week as flown by in a flurry of busy-ness. I am thankful that I have a practice that reminds me to slow down and appreciate my own flesh, breath and energy. I am ever so grateful that women come and dance with me, so I can participate in this magical collaboration.
This past weekend I had the priviledge to facilitate a beautiful DOWH workshop in Belleville, Ontario, in a gorgeous new studio there called "Tenth Ox", arranged by my dear cousin Sherri Bergman. "Wow", is all I can say! It is so astounding to me to see the power of transformation that can happen in 2 hours. We, as women, have extraordinary abilities to transmute, grow, let go, open up and blossom in the most delicious ways, without being forced or pushed. All we have to do is show up, relax, and be willing to be authentic for a few minutes, and that is when the magic begins. I love it! I am in awe of every woman that offers herself to the circle. I am humbled and honoured to be a small part of each DOWH circle. Thank you for allowing me to do what I love!
Last Saturday we danced "Joyous Flesh" at the Dovercourt House, inspired by the chapter from "The Women Who Run with the Wolves", one of my all-time favourite books. Here is an excerpt from it. May it inspire you to fall in love with your own body. Namaste, Erica
"There is no "supposed to be" in bodies.
The question is not size of shape or years of age,
or even having two of everything, for some do not.
But the wild issue is, does this body feel,
does it have right connection to pleasure,
to heart, to soul, to the wild?
Does it have happiness, joy?
Can it in its own way move,
dance, jiggle, sway, thrust?
Nothing else matters."
